I've got a question for you think it's normal to poop only once a week? Well...I'm sorry to break it to you, but that is NOT normal! That's right I said it and I will say it again, it's NOT normal to poop only once a week or less! It is time to normalize pooping daily and feeling damn good about it.

Check out the list below, it highlights some of the most common signs and symptoms of constipation. If you find yourself saying yes to more than 3 issues then you may classify yourself as constipated. 

  • You have less than 3 bowel movements a week
  • Your poop is dry, hard, and lumpy (like rabbit poop)
  • You find yourself straining and in pain when trying to poop
  • You feel like you haven’t fully emptied your bowels after pooping
  • You feel nauseous, bloated, and constantly full
  • You experience stomach cramps and aches

Well you may have

An underlying condition to blame when it comes to your constipation. Do you skip out on water throughout the day? Or do you struggle to eat enough fiber rich foods? These issues alone could be driving your constipation! But, there could be an even greater cause such as an overgrowth of bad gut bugs preventing you from pooping on the reg!

Common causes I see:

  • Low-fiber diet
  • Not drinking enough water and electrolytes
  • Lack of movement and regular exercise
  • Stress!
  • Resisting or ignoring the urge to poop
  • Change in routine
  • Pelvic floor dysfunction
  • Bacterial overgrowth: such as Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO)
  • Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
  • Metabolic disorders (hypothyroidism)
